What is Anadrol (Oxymetholone)? Everything You Need to Know

Otherwise known as Anadrol 50 or Oxymetholone.

Anadrol first came on the scene in the 1960’s as a way to treat gastrointestinal disease, anemia and osteoporosis. It’s also been prescribed to people suffering from muscle-wasting conditions, such as HIV/aids…and to others who are severely underweight.

Anadrol is commonly used among bodybuilders who are looking to pack on a lot of muscle size and mass in the off-season. Anadrol is one of the best bulking steroids a bodybuilder can take for building muscle and gaining weight (rapidly).

It’s normal for users to gain 30+lbs in as little as 4 weeks on anadrol. It’s anabolic rating is 320, which is over 3x higher than testosterone’s score of 100…putting into perspective just how powerful anadrol really is.

Effects of Anadrol

Anadrol is an extremely fast-acting steroid, so muscle and strength gains will come by faster than you can blink.

…okay maybe not that fast, but you get my drift.

You can also lose these gains just as quickly, unless you diligently stack other steroids with anadrol. Base steroids such as deca, testosterone and trenbolone will be powerful additions to take with anadrol; helping maximize gains on your cycle and ensuring you keep them long after you stop administering anadrol.

Anadrol is a steroid that’s known for causing a decent amount of water retention. If you’re also shoveling in 6,000 calories of food during a dirty bulk; then you can expect to look pretty smooth on anadrol.

Certain bodybuilders’ physiques that come to mind when thinking of anadrol are Phil Heath (in offseason) and Rich Piana. Even though these guys aren’t fat, they look pretty bloated/smooth at times…which could be the works of anadrol 50.

Typically you’ll retain more water on anadrol than you would on other bulking steroids such as testosterone and dianabol. However this extra water can help you become even more anabolic, as it will fill your muscles full of fluid which can help you lift heavier weights during your workouts (due to increased ATP production).

This extra fluid retention inside the muscles, combined with increased red blood cell production will result in huge pumps during your workouts…so be warned that your skin may feel like it’s about to rip when you next train biceps.

Anadrol isn’t just a powerful steroid when it comes to packing on size; it’s equally as good at enhancing a users strength levels. In fact, anadrol is probably the greatest single steroid you can take for increasing strength…dare I say better than dianabol and trenbolone.

…and these are freaking strong anabolics.

Side Effects of Anadrol

As your water weight increases, so does your blood pressure. This is because your blood becomes more viscous (thick) and thus finds it increasingly difficult to flow freely throughout the body.

Your liver will also be strained somewhat when taking anadrol. This effect will be moreso in comparison to other anabolics, as anadrol is considerably harsher on the body.

Gyno is also another possibility when taking anadrol (especially in higher doses). The reason for this is due to estrogen levels rising excessively during a cycle, which can cause breast tissue to appear.

Acne and male pattern baldness are other mild adverse effects which can be experienced, although these sides depend more on a persons genetics. For example, a person whose not genetically susceptible to be bald, won’t suddenly lose all hair follicles overnight. Instead, it’s likely that the person will experience some thinning.

Anadrol’s side effects are generally more intense than other steroids. This is the price many are happy to pay in order to get huge muscle gains. However, for this reason anadrol is never recommended for newbies who’ve never juiced before. However, some individuals do seem to tolerate A-drol okay and are happy to use it regularly throughout the year…reaping the huge gains which this steroid can provide.
