Thought it was just men who wanted to bulk up and shed body fat? Think again.
Times are changing, and the women’s fitness revolution is now in full swing.
The “girls that lift” hashtag is now one of the most used hashtags on social media, due to more women lifting weights that ever before.
Women are finally embracing muscle and their curves, rather than fearing dumbbells and heavy weights like the plague; and as a result they look great.
If you thought building muscle as a man was tough, for women it’s even harder.
When it comes to genetics, biology has not been kind to women in the muscle-building department.
Not only are women’s metabolisms much slower than men’s, meaning it’s easier for them to gain fat, and harder to lose it; they also struggle to build lean muscle mass.
These are some of the reasons why more and more females are reading up on the best steroids for women.
Below we’ll be looking at five of the best steroids for women, as well as looking into the importance of safe and sensible usage.
Steroids And Virilization In Women
One thing that women need to be wary of if they plan on taking steroids is virilization.
Virilization is a process, that causes a woman to lose aspects of her femininity.
For some extremely dedicated female bodybuilders this may not be a problem, but for most women this is isn’t exactly desirable.
There have been instances where female bodybuilders have abused anabolic steroids to such extremes, the only reason you’d be able to tell they’re female at all is because they wore a bikini on stage (as well as makeup).
This is a harsh reality and one that even some of the female competitors admit.
Virilization takes place when unusually large levels of androgens are found in the body.
Some common signs of virilization include:
- Deepening of the voice.
- Enlargement of the jaw
- Change to facial structure
- Enlargement of the clitoris
- Excessive hair growth
To most women out there, this may sound horrifying, but it generally only occurs in extreme cases, where steroids have been abused.
Plenty of women out there use various steroids and experience virtually no virilization side effects at all.
However, to avoid these side effects, low dosages of steroids should be taken, and women should ideally take steroids which aren’t overly androgenic in the first place.
Best Steroids For Women
Now that we’ve looked at virilization, here are some steroids which’ll have a dramatic impact on a woman’s physique, helping them to build muscle and burn fat.
Here are five of the best steroids for women that are commonly available.
Winstrol, also known as Winny, is a steroid that’s popular amongst women, as well as men.
It’s not the strongest steroid out there by any stretch, but it certainly isn’t the weakest either.
It is a very effective performance enhancing steroid that’s used by a lot of athletes, due to it boosting performance and energy levels, whilst fighting fatigue and shredding fat.
It’s also one of the safest steroids currently available and has very low levels of virilization.
Men primarily use it for cutting, but for women, it can actually be used for bulking; if you just want to build small to moderate amounts of lean muscle.
It also preserves lean muscle tissue, so it’s great for stripping fat and keeping lean.
When talking about the best steroids for women, Anavar is usually the first steroid that springs to mind.
Anavar is often referred to as the ‘female steroid’ so right away this gives you a pretty strong clue that it’s favoured highly amongst females.
Anavar’s probably the mildest and safest steroid on the planet, making it ideal for women, or for men as a way of easing your way into the ‘dark side’ of steroid use.
It presents virtually no virilization properties whatsoever, it helps enhance energy levels and fat loss, maintains muscle mass and has virtually no side-effects at all.
Just a quick reminder to inform you that, no matter how weak a steroid is, you should always run post cycle therapy after a cycle, as all steroids affect your hormones.
Primobolon, or Primo for short, is the least androgenic of all steroids, meaning virilization side effects are very unlikely if used correctly.
Women can use this steroid for bulking or cutting, knowing that if they use it as directed, their risks of suffering any ill-effects are greatly reduced.
Primo will help maintain a positive nitrogen balance within the muscles, increasing protein synthesis and making your body more anabolic.
One common misconception associated with Clenbuterol, is that it’s part of the steroid family.
This is not actually true, even though we’re including it in this list of best steroids for women.
Clenbuterol is actually a stimulant that works in a very similar fashion to certain cutting steroids, making it great for fat loss and cutting cycles.
Female bodybuilders, in particular, absolutely adore this drug because it works so darn well for women looking to strip away fat while preserving lean muscle tissue.
Clen’s probably the strongest fat-burning compound on our list so far, so again, always use it safely and as intended.
Some particularly undesirable side effects associated with Clenbuterol use include:
- Clammy palms
Because of this, if you have any heart-related conditions in the slightest, you shouldn’t use clenbuterol (no matter how much you want to get lean).
Deca durabolin is also one of the most popular steroids for women due to it not being overly androgenic, thus keeping the risk of virilization low in women.
Deca acts very similar in women as it does in men, in regards to it being a bulking compound and it significantly increasing strength and muscle gains.
A common protocol for women is to take 50mg of deca durabolin a week for 4-6 weeks. A higher dose than this, or a longer cycle, will increase the risk of virilization side effects occurring. Studies have also shown to have a fat-burning effect and thus if your calories aren’t too high you may notice a slight decrease in body fat. This may be more obvious once you lose water weight post-cycle.
Deca durabolin is generally one of the healthier anabolic steroids, due to its low androgenic properties.
PCT for Women
It’s less common for women to run PCT’s, as their hormone profile is different to a mans.
A man generally runs PCT to help his natural testosterone production recover, by lowering estrogen levels.
However, it’s natural for women to have higher estrogen levels, so this isn’t an issue.
Women can still run a PCT, to balance out their hormones, however this will consist of supplements which balance estrogen/testosterone levels rather than taking anti-estrogens (which actually block the hormones themselves).
